Free FIV Seminar - Saturday, October 25
Save-A-Pet, is one of the few shelters who will not euthanize FIV cats. So what exactly is FIV? In short, FIV is a virus similar to HIV in humans. It cannot be transmitted to any species other than cats and is by no means a death sentence. Many cats with FIV live long and healthy lives. To know more about FIV, and dispel the myths and rumors associated with it, Save-A-Pet is holding a offsite and short seminar at Grayslake Library on Saturday, October 25 from 2pm to 4pm which includes an explanation of the virus, how it affects felines, and testimonials from volunteers who work with our FIV cats, as well as current FIV cat guardians. Some of our FIV cats will also be on hand to introduce themselves.Grayslake Library is located at 100 Library Lane, Grayslake, Illinois 60030.

Central Bark - Oct. 25
Come and join our volunteers and spoke doggies at Central Bark's Holw-O-Ween party on Saturday, October 25! Dogs and people in Halloween costume are of course welcome. Enter your dog in their contest for scariest, most creative and cutest costumes with prizes awarded to all winnners. Come enjoy mutt-inis for the dogs, food and drinks for parents. All socialized and leashed dogs are welcome. $10 donation at the door - all proceeds to benefit Save-A-Pet. Maybe you will even meet your new best friend. PetsMart in Kildeer - Oct. 26
Come and meet some of our residents the PetsMart in Kildeer (20771 N Rand Rd Bldg G, 847-438-3404) from noon till about 3pm. Cats are of course on location 7 days a week. Volunteers will have a few canine friends looking for a home too. Of course, during the store hours, staff can also help you meet our cats at that location, just ask one of their associates.
Thanksgiving Table - November
During the whole month of November, Save-A-Pet will be holding a Thanksgiving table in the lobby of our Adoption Center in Grayslake. What a wonderful way for a family, a community center, a class at school, a group of colleagues, friends or neighbors to get together and plan a giving table event to benefit our residents.So please donate to our Thanksgiving table. Our residents will be extremely thankful for all items donated and for your continued support. Please check our wish list if you need ideas...and of course financial donations towards the care of our residents are always appreciated!
Holiday Open House - Dec 6 & 7
Join us for our annual open house, Saturday December 6, noon to 5pm and on Sunday, December 7, from noon to 4pm. We will again feature this year many crafts, gift baskets, and baked goodies for both people and pets! Perfect for your holiday shopping for all the ones that are dear to you. If you have handcrafted items that you would like to donate, please call 847-740-7788, ext. 103 or email information@save-a-pet-il.org. All proceeds from this sale benefit the animals! Dr. Kim Ogden-Avrutik, animal communicator, will be offering 15-minute consultations on Saturday only for you and your companion animal. They are available at $25 for 15 minutes or time for up to three questions, whichever comes first. One animal friend per session, please.
